Discover the Joy of Dance – Every Tuesday at Sullivan Community Space!
Unleash your passion and express yourself through movement with our free all-level dance class, happening every Tuesday from 7–8:30 PM at Sullivan Community Space. Whether you're brand new to dance or have years of experience, this class is designed to welcome everyone, no matter your background or skill level.
Led by inspiring instructors, our hip-hop and choreography class is a space to refine your technique, explore fun and dynamic routines, and connect with a supportive, creative community. Dance isn’t just movement—it’s a powerful form of self-expression, a way to let go, and an opportunity to grow alongside like-minded individuals.

Sewn Together: Free Community Sewing Classes at Sullivan Community Space
Sullivan Community Space is proud to partner with local nonprofit SNE Cares to offer Sewn Together — a free sewing program that empowers youth and their families through hands-on sewing skills and sustainable fashion. Supported by the City of Oakland’s Human Services Department, the ReCAST Initiative, and Youth Leadership Institute, this enriching program teaches participants how to create their own clothing using eco-friendly fabrics and upcycling techniques.
Over several weeks, participants will build practical sewing skills, explore creative expression, and learn the value of sustainability. Each participant who completes all four weeks will receive a free sewing machine to continue their journey at home. The program runs from June 21st to August 30th, 2025, with classes held every Saturday from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Sullivan Community Space, located at 1671 8th Street, Oakland, CA 94607. Sewn Together is open to youth and their families, with space available for up to 24 participants across cohorts 4 through 8.
